John 7:37-39 NASB
[37] Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. [38] He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.'” [39] But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. …
If you are thirsty for more in this life, then Jesus promises to be a river of living water flowing out of our innermost being, so that not only is our thirst quenched, but we become instruments of quenching the thirst of those around us. If Jesus has been glorified in your life, the only qualification necessary for your thirst to be satisfied, and to become a supernatural artesian well that flows out like a river to others is to simply be “thirsty,” and to come to Jesus and drink. Being thirsty, and drinking are the only qualifications necessary once Jesus has been glorified in your life. As a matter-of-fact, the way the language is written grammatically, is that we are to come to him with fresh thirst moment by moment, and to continually come to him with our fresh thirst for supernatural more to be released in our lives and through our lives. He doesn’t just satisfy my thirst step-by-step, but there is such a miraculous overflow. You see each temptation, and each situation that I face, I realize that I am thirsty for a supernatural “more” to be released into my life to overcome the temptation, and to confront the situation that I may be facing.
The question that you might be asking though is that what does it mean for Jesus to be glorified in my life personally. When Jesus was glorified in his ascension, what happened? Very simply, Jesus took his place on a throne at the right hand of the Father. For Jesus to be glorified in my life personally is for Jesus to be Enthroned on my heart as the one who has total control, and the one who alone has the right to live His life and tell his story through me. Once Jesus is enthroned, the Holy Spirit becomes like a never ending artesian well that fills us step-by-step with the river of Jesus’s presence and power, as we simply come to him with our thirst. We come with thirst, and the way we drink is the simply exercise faith. Coming in believing thirst by thirst the simplicity of the life that is a river. Remember, believing is not a belief that he can, or a hope that he will, but biblical faith is trusting that he is right now filling, and overflowing at the point of thirst.
