One Thing 2/2/22 Christ is our expectation

Romans 6:3-4 TPT

Or have you forgotten that all of us who were immersed into union with Jesus, the Anointed One, were immersed into union with his death? [4] Sharing in his death by our baptism means that we were co-buried and entombed with him, so that when the Father’s glory raised Christ from the dead, we were also raised with him. We have been co-resurrected with him so that we too could walk in newness of life.

Jesus died on the Cross and was raised from the dead for us, but not just for us. He died on the Cross and was raised from the dead as us. The new resurrected life that Jesus lives is the new life that we participate in. It’s not just that we are given newness of life; it is that our newness of life is His newness of life. Just think about that! The new resurrected life that Jesus now lives is at the heart of who we are as Christians. By the Holy, Spirit Jesus lives His new life through us. Christ is all and is in all. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says that we are new creations “in Christ.” Our inclusion in the newness of life that He lives is what makes us New Creatures. If that is true, then we can certainly shout in glorious victory that the “old things have passed away, and new things have come.” Christians should not be walking around dripping with the mindset, emotions, and lifestyle of the old fallen false self. That’s the old, and it has passed away. We should be shining with Christ-likeness, and Christ-likeness is not our acting like Christ but is Christ simply being himself in and through us. This is the gospel. This is the good news. It is much more than just being forgiven and having emotions for God. Christianity is newness of life, and that doesn’t mean that you signed up for some kind of improvement program. The newness of life that we get to enjoy and manifest is the very post-resurrection newness of life that Jesus lives. Christ came to make all things new, and you and I are at the top of the list. So many Christians have such low expectations of themselves when the truth is they should totally abandon any expectations of themselves apart from who they are in Christ. Christ, Himself is our expectation.
