Romans 6:6
Always knowing this that our old (unrenewed) self was nailed to the cross with Him in order that our body of sin might be done away with, that we might no longer be the slaves of sin.
The root word that the word “body” comes from in the original language that the New Testament was written in means “entire.” The entire fallen personality was nailed to the cross 2000 years ago with Christ. Truth is always intended, according to Jesus, to set us free, and this vital truth about your old “self” and its crucifixion with Jesus is imperative for us to get it we are going to walk in the freedom Christ accomplished for us. The depressed self, the insecure self; the bitter rself; the angry self; the addicted self; the fear-controlled self, the immoral self, etc., was crucified in Christ. The moment, by faith that you received Christ and His finished work on your behalf, this truth about your entire fallen false self, which had already been accomplished for you, was deposited in you. We were born again Whole, and the renewal of our minds in Christ is the process of ever discovering what’s already true about you in Him and manifesting that truth by faith. Remember, faith never waits for experience. Experience always waits for faith. Ephesians 4 tells us to lay aside the Old Self. We can lay aside what He has crucified. We don’t progressively get more crucified and resurrected in Christ, but we do progressively see it better and manifest it bigger. Don’t let the enemy convince you that you are who Jesus crucified. It is time to start believing who you are now in the Jesus, who is resurrected.
