One Thing 2/13/23 Participating in His obedience

Yesterday during worship, I had an amazing encounter with Christ. There was something about one of the songs we were singing that prompted me to silently say to the Lord, “I want to be as obedient as I possibly can be. I want to go as far as it is possible for me to go in obedience to you, Lord.” Having said that, I knew somehow that no matter how far I was to go in an obedient lifestyle, it would not be enough for me to be satisfied with. In that moment, it was as if the Holy Spirit took over my part of the conversation with Christ, and I said, “My heart wants more than that.” Immediately, the Holy Spirit brought to my mind 2 Corinthians 10:5, which says, “taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.” It doesn’t say “obedience to Christ,” but it is an invitation to participate in the “obedience OF Christ.” I knew that Jesus was reminding me that He is my life, and He was inviting me to literally participate in His obedient life. I believe Jesus was blessed that I wanted to be as obedient as I possibly could be, but He was inviting me to participate (not imitate) in how far He is willing to go in obedience. He was welcoming me into something that would be costly but exhilarating. I was trying to offer Jesus something while He, in turn, was offering me everything. The wildest and most glorious ride a human being could ever experience, the obedient life of Christ as our personal experience. All He wanted was for me to trust Him.
