Ephesians 1:18 NASB
[18] I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,
The hope of His calling? Our great privilege in union with Christ is for him to continue to live his life through us, telling his story of the character, and redemptive love and power of God. He living his life, by our humanity, the over arching calling of every believer. There may be other minor callings that involve different vocations, ministry giftings, but the ultimate calling of every believer to manifest the life, and likeness of Jesus. The good news is, this calling to Christ likeness is not a matter of an imitation of Christ, instead, it is a participation in His life, and His inheritance, and a manifestation of all that He is and has.
This verse is a great parayer to pray over youself. “Lord, open the eyes of my heart to see my union with Christ and the calling on His life in me; and open the eyes of my heart to see that all the riches os His inheritance has been deposited in me, so that I will always have the resouces of Jesus for this life in Him I’m called to live.” The hope of His calling in me, and all of His resouces in me to draw from. Wow! What a life, and what a destiny!
