Eccl. 3:11 He has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart, without which man will not find out the work which God has done from the beginning even to the end.
God has set eternity in our hearts, and only when we set our hearts on eternal things, and things that have eternal value, will we live our daily lives with a sense of purpose and value. We must prioritize our lives, regardless of earthly stewardship and loves, to seek those things which are above, and live each moment with eternal intentions. If we don’t live seeking, and practicing His presence, life becomes a jumbled mess of confusion, frustration, and heartbreak with intermittent moments or seasons of joy. In this fallen world of cosmic conflict only in His presence is fullness of joy, which was always the original plan. We are created by Him and for Him, but we are not robots who were wound up to just want Him. He instead gave us the ability to choose, that’s why He put two trees in the garden, to give mankind the choice to be volunteer lovers of God. Without choice it isn’t true love, and He wants true love from us. God put eternity in our hearts because we were created for Him and no earthly pleasure or love, though wonderful they maybe, will ever satisfy the deepest longings and needs of our hearts. To be fully alive we must pursue Him, choosing to love Him above all others. Only when He is your passion, and pursuit will you feel normal, and truly alive. He longs to be your magnificent obsession, you are His.
