Col. 2:6, “Therefore (just) as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,”
Just as you have received Him, in light of all that He did for you; keep receiving Him in light of all that He is in you. The word “receive” literally means “to take.” Whenever, in the New Testament, the word “receive” is used in reference to being in Christ, it is not a “receiving” something that you need but don’t have, therefore “receive” it; instead it is used in light of what you already have, therefore “receive it, or “take” what is already yours. Again, think of (2 Cor. 9:8), “And the God of limitless ability abounded all grace to you, that you ALWAYS HAVING all sufficiency in everything may abound to every good work.” If you already have, then just “TAKE.”
Here is the one catch; even though All is yours in Christ; is ALL that’s yours Christ’s. You see, to live in the experience of all that He is, He has to live in the possession of all that you are.
It’s very simple. Give All; take All. We love to hear “Take All” that Christ is, but our flesh protests at the thought of “Giving All;” yielding to His total Lordship, but unless we are prepared to Give All, we will never experience All, even though we posses all.
