Song 3:9 “King Solomon has made for himself a sedan chair
From the timber of Lebanon.
Song 3:10 “He made its posts of silver,
Its back of gold
And its seat of purple fabric,
With its interior lovingly fitted out
By the daughters of Jerusalem.
John 14:2 “In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.
John 14:3 “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.
John 14:4 “And you know the way where I am going.”
As I’ve said before, the sedan chair, or traveling couch, is our place In Christ that Jesus has prepared for us, as He carries us through this fallen world on the way to our wedding in Heaven. The Song says that King Solomon (Jesus) made for Himself this sedan chair. It also says that He made it from the wood of Lebanon. Wood speaks of His humanity, and the cedars of Lebanon in the Song, refer to the New Creation that we are in Christ. Jesus was “The first born of many brethren.” In other words, as the Second Adam He was the prototype of a New Humanity; the New Creation. He became a man so that He could live and die, and rise again to create a whole new humanity. If Jesus hadn’t become a man; lived as a man; died as a man; and rose again to invade our humanity, then we would have been left in our sins, and lost as broken, fallen selves. You and I would still be the “Old Man,” guilty, and powerless to live the supernatural lives we were created to live. Our King Solomon alone could make our In Christ sedan chair.
