Song 3:6 “Who is this coming up from the wilderness
Like columns of smoke,
Perfumed with myrrh and frankincense,
With all scented powders of the merchant?
Song 3:7 “Behold, it is the traveling couch of Solomon;
Sixty mighty men around it,
Of the mighty men of Israel.
Song 3:8 “All of them are wielders of the sword,
Expert in war;
Each man has his sword at his side,
Guarding against the terrors of the night.
It is so wonderful to know that our victorious Bridegroom Lord has included us In Christ (His sedan chair) and is carrying us through the wilderness in safety and victory. Having already traveled through this wilderness victoriously He is an expert at anything that I may face, because He has already faced it in triumph. It takes away so much of the strain to know that I don’t have to understand everything in the battle, because He is the expert, not me. The last part of verse 8 says that Jesus and His angels assigned to me have their swords at their sides. Jesus is ready for battle, and nothing catches Him off guard, or by surprise. We don’t have to live fearfully on our tip toes, looking for the next “terror of the night” to hit us. Instead, we can, because we are in Christ, restfully lean on our Beloved, knowing He never slumbers or sleeps, and that He is prepared for the next battle, and He will be an expert at that one too. He is watching so we don’t have to. Remember He has been there before, and He knows exactly when, and from where the next battle will come. We can simply rest in Him, because He knows where He is going, and He already knows what He is going to do when He gets there. We, can by faith, simply enjoy the ride.
