One Thing 11/8/13

Sadly, I hear so many Christians talk about the devil and warfare way too much. Rev. 6 says that Jesus came conquering and to conquer. Col. 2 says that Jesus defeated the enemy and made a public display of his defeat when He disarmed him. Satan loves for our focus, and conversation to be on him, because it enables him. Of course, there is warfare, and there are attacks, but our thoughts and conversations need to be own the winner and not the loser. As the enemy of our souls tries to fill our thoughts and emotions with darkness, The Holy Spirit is always there speaking over the voice of the demonic, and into our hearts, emphasizing Jesus. In the Upper Room Discourse Jesus said that The Holy Spirit’s role is to DISCLOSE Jesus to us. The word “disclose” literally means “to emphasize.” As the demonic try’s to crowd our minds and hearts with darkness, threats, temptation, and fears, The Helper is loudly emphasizing Jesus as Conquerer to us. You can’t practice the presence of Jesus and the demonic at the same time. The Holy Spirit is always promoting Jesus into our thoughts so that we will look to Him, and walk in faith in each and every situation. When you find yourself overwhelmed by temptation, situations, or human suffering that is in front of you, just give the darkness a sight glance, and then hear The Holy Spirit emphasize Jesus and what He is up to, and what He is capable of. It’s ok to notice the enemy, it helps you to understand the nature of the victory Christ is about to demonstrate, but keep your gaze on The Winner who is instantly, and perpetually accessible.
