Song 2:14 “O my dove, in the clefts of the rock,
In the secret place of the steep pathway,
Let me see your form,
Let me hear your voice;
For your voice is sweet,
And your form is lovely.”
Song 2:15 “Catch the foxes for us,
The little foxes that are ruining the vineyards,
While our vineyards are in blossom.”
Whenever Jesus calls you to a new and higher place in Him, the enemy always comes to destroy what the Holy Spirit is doing in your life.
Notice the words of verse 15, “Catch the foxes for us.” It’s “us” that is at stake, our relationship and fellowship with Jesus. He didn’t say “catch the foxes for Me or for you,” He said for “us.” When Jesus comes to you and calls you to rise up and come away with Him, He is calling you to a place of greater intimacy and shared presence. Remember, it’s all about advancing in relationship, and the consequential fruit of Christlikeness. The enemy wants to steal that place of maturing love and intimacy with Christ. This is what the foxes are after. The enemy is after our hearts, and our experience of a heart relationship with Christ. The foxes are actually referred to as “little foxes,” and these little foxes are the little sins, that if not caught, will eventually ruin the new thing that God has done in our hearts. Also notice, that the job of catching them is ours. The Holy Spirit will put them to death, but only after we catch them, calling them what they are. Remember, “us” is at stake. They want to destroy our heart fellowship with Jesus.
