Proverbs 30:12-14
[12] There is a kind who is pure in his own eyes, Yet is not washed from his filthiness. [13] There is a kind-oh how lofty are his eyes! And his eyelids are raised in arrogance. [14] There is a kind g of man whose teeth are like swords And his jaw teeth like knives, …
SS 4:3; Your lips are like a scarlet thread, And your mouth is lovely. Your temples are like a slice of a pomegranate Behind your veil.
To have lips like a scarlet thread, and have a mouth which is lovely is to be a person in Christ who is manifesting the redemptive language of Jesus. To have redemptive speech means that your lips like scarlet are under the blood and are only open when they speak lovely things. The word lovely is the Hebrew word that means “fitting.” Ephesians 4 tells us to not let any unwholesome word proceed out of our mouth, but only such a word that brings edification according to the need that it may bring grace to those who hear. What I’ve discovered, is that those who have the most judgmental heart, and critical mouth are speaking out of a great personal lack. To have temples like pomegranate in the Song of Solomon means that your thought life and your emotional life behind the veil (behind the face) is heavenly which is what pomegranates represent. When your emotions, and your thought life are heavenly then your speech will be redemptive.
Those verses in Proverbs are very powerful, and they tell us that those who are constantly critical bring injury to others because they withhold grace, and it is evidence that the person whose language is not redemptive has unfortunately not owned their own stuff. Remember, when someone is with you and are being very critical of others, that the one who’s been critical is the one who is in the most Broken, not the ones they are talking about.
Ephesians 4 tells us that when our speech is not redemptive, the Holy Spirit is grieved, and therefore is impossible to fully experience and manifest our oneness with Jesus.
