One Thing 11/22/22 From rags to riches

Sadly, so many true Christians don’t really understand the reality of the wonders of the grace of God. They probably know that they are “saved by grace,” but when they say that they are referencing the fact that because Jesus died on the cross for our sins we get a free ticket to heaven by placing our faith in Jesus. Jesus (God’s grace) did not just come to save us from sin’s penalty; He came to save us from what we had become. Jesus came in grace to save us from all that we were, that we might live, experiencing all that He is, and all that He has. I love the description of grace in 2 Corinthians 8:9; “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.”

Thinking only about you and your redemption, Jesus clothed Himself in your fallen sin sick humanity – He became sin on your behalf; taking on the full measure of your spiritual poverty, with all of its brokenness – that you through His poverty might become in his resurrection/ascension coheirs with Him.

Let me say that again. Think about the darkest, slimiest, perverted expression of humanity’s spiritual poverty, and that’s what Jesus took on to Himself, so that risen from the dead in Him and ascended and seated with Him in the heavenly places we became filthy rich with all the unfathomable riches of Christ.

Because Christians don’t understand all that Jesus accomplished for them in His finished work at the cross as a free gift, those who have been made unimaginably spiritually rich in Christ still live as if they were paupers. Jesus became the pauper so that we never have to live as one again. We HAVE BEEN blessed with EVERY spiritual blessing in the heavenly’s IN CHRIST.
