1 Corinthians 1:9 NASB
[9] God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
The word Fellowship in 1 Corinthians 1:9 actually has its root from the word “together,” or union. Koinonia literally means “sharing, or sharer, partner, or participation.” Our calling is into a participation in the life of our Lord Jesus Christ. Here is the passion translation version of that verse.
1 Corinthians 1:9 TPT
[9] God is forever faithful and can be trusted to do this in you, for he has invited you to co-share the life of his Son, Jesus, the Anointed One, our King!
1 Thessalonians 5:9-10 AMPC
[9] For God has not appointed us to [incur His] wrath [He did not select us to condemn us], but [that we might] obtain [His] salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) [10] Who died for us so that whether we are still alive or are dead [at Christ’s appearing], we might live together with Him and share His life.
Whether we are alive or alive in the ages to come Jesus died for us that we might participate in his life
I have been talking to the Lord lately and thinking about what do I want more than anything else and I concluded that what I really want is to know the Fellowship of Jesus. I want to experience Him. Being Christlike is not my number one goal. Experiencing Christ is. Jesus said to me that the best way to experience Him is to enjoy Him living His life through my daily life story, which of course my daily life His life story. Participation in His life being lived through the details of daily living is the great fellowship. Abiding is just remaining in the disposition of remembering that I am in Christ minute by minute, thanking him for the privilege of participating in what He’s doing. Christ likeness is simply the consequence of choosing to surrender in faith to the details, of His story being lived out through me. Every demand, every changing moment, and responsibility is an opportunity to participate in His life, allowing me to experience Him. The prayer room, the place of intimacy helps to cultivate a mindset that can steward His presence in daily living, but the dominant opportunities to enjoy His fellowship is in the public place of real life lived; not the secret place. Every day we’ve got to come down from the mountaintop of the secret place of the steep pathway, and, walk participating in Him down in the valley where real life happens. Miracles happen in me on the mountain in His presence, but miracles happen through me down in the valley as I step-by-step host and participate in His life. The vistas are amazing on the mountain in the secret place of the steep pathway, but lush growth happens down in the valley.
