Once you lay down your right to ask WHY, because your heart has been fully yielded to His will no matter how it comes, or how it feels, then you must avoid the next great stumbling block that asks the question HOW. That’s the question Mary asked the angel Gabriel, in light of the fact that she was still a virgin. As Mary thought through what God had said to her, and was asking of her, she could not figure out how it could happen, that is, how God would do it. This is a stumbling block for many of us, because there are situations we find ourselves in, or areas of our lives internally where we are battling, that we just can’t see how God is going to come out victoriously. We won’t desperately for God to explain to us how He is going to do it before we can settle into faith. If you will go back and look at those scriptures in Luke chapter 1 you will discover that when the angel answered her question concerning HOW, he actually did not give her any specifics at all. He simply told her that the Holy Spirit would overshadow her and that the power of God would make it happen. A couple of verses later he said, no word that God speaks is impossible for him to perform. Mary’s simple response was to declare that she was completely yielded and she declared that she believed He would do it according to His word.
You see the questions we should never ask are WHY, or HOW. What we should be asking is WHAT, and WHO.
WHAT did He say, and WHO is able, and faithful to perform His word. Our faith rests alone on HIS WORD, and HIS ABILITY. It is irrelevant HOW; it only matters WHAT did and does HIS WORD say, and WHO is at work watching over HIS WORD to perform it.
