Jn. 3:31 “He who comes from above is above all, he who is of the earth is from the earth and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all.”
Jn. 18:33, Therefore Pilate entered again into the Praetorium, and summoned Jesus and said to Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” 34 Jesus answered, “Are you saying this on your own initiative, or did others tell you about Me?” 35 Pilate answered, “I am not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests delivered You to me; what have You done?” 36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm.” 37 Therefore Pilate said to Him, “So You are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say correctly that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”
Jn.19:8, Therefore when Pilate heard this statement, he was even more afraid; 9 and he entered into the Praetorium again and *said to Jesus, “Where are You from?” But Jesus gave him no answer. 10 So Pilate *said to Him, “You do not speak to me? Do You not know that I have authority to release You, and I have authority to crucify You?” 11 Jesus answered, “You would have no authority over Me, unless it had been given you from above…”
Jesus lived an ABOVE LIFE. He always lived in and from the Kingdom of God. Jesus told Pilate that He was born to be a king, and to bear witness of the truth of the reign of His kingdom. Wasn’t Jesus already King before He was born? Of course He was; but He was incarnate to declare and bring the Kingdom of Heaven to the earth. The prayer most prayed all over the earth everyday says, “Thy Kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.”
The way Jesus advanced His Kingdom was by bearing witness of all the realities of the Kingdom, which released that reality on the earth. In the second conversation Jesus had with Pilate, Pilate told Jesus that he, Pilate, had authority over Jesus’s life; and Jesus responded by speaking the truth from an above (Kingdom) perspective. He told Pilate that if he had any influence over His life it was only because authority had been give him from”above.” Jesus confessed the reign of the reality of Kingdom truth into His situation. He knew that no human had control over His life, or His destiny. Jesus didn’t see things from ground level. He saw up down; not down up. It is true that God doesn’t cause everything in this fallen world; but it is also true that He hasn’t lost control. For those who love Him, and are called according to His purpose, His goodness is always prevailing, and causing ALL THINGS to work together in accomplishing His purposes. Jesus was coming from above in how He saw, and declared what was going on in His questioning before Pilate, and therefore He was walking ABOVE the situation. As He did, He was also releasing Heaven on earth, by bearing witness of what He saw in Heaven. As a result, what Jesus released not only kept Him in the atmosphere of the Kingdom personally, but it impacted Pilate so much so that Pilate tried over and over again to release Him.
Live ABOVE the battle. From you union with Christ bear witness of what you (He) see and hear in the Kingdom.
