I love the prayer that the Shulumite prayed when she decided that she was going to recklessly pursue, as the great purpose of her life, to be a lovesick dwelling place from which Jesus can fully and freely live. She simply prayed “Take me away with you; let us run.”
When the Holy Spirit awakens our hearts to our true identity as those in union with Christ, called to be the vessels through which he continues to tell his story, then our great desire is to make up for lost time. Thus, the term “let us run.”
Look at these verses from Ephesians 5:14 – 18, “For this reason it says Awake, sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you. Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” There is nothing more glorious than the wind of the Holy Spirit behind, you propelling you forward into joyfully discovering, and advancing, and fully experiencing, and manifesting the fullness of the indwelling Jesus. When you live with a sense of joyful urgency, because you want to make up for lost time, the wind of the Holy Spirit propels you from breakthrough to breakthrough, or in the language of 2 Corinthians 3:18, from “glory to glory.” This is what full surrender to the purposes of God looks and feels like; making up for lost time, and squeezing the life out of every moment given to you. This is the heart behind the admonition to “seek the Lord with all of our heart.” The foundation of a seeking life that is stretching forth, is a stirred up heart; and a stirred up heart is simply the consequence of the latest encounter and discovery. Every fresh discovery of the One who is ALL, and in all, is a propellant into the next passionate pursuit that wants to make up for lost time.
