Song of Songs 2:9-14 NASB
[9] … He is peering through the lattice. [10] “My beloved responded and said to me, ‘Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, And come along. [11] ‘For behold, the winter is past, The rain is over and gone. [12] ‘The flowers have already appeared in the land; The time has arrived for pruning the vines, And the voice of the turtledove has been heard in our land. [13] ‘The fig tree has ripened its figs, And the vines in blossom have given forth their fragrance. Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, And come along!'” [14] “ O p my dove, in the clefts of the rock, In the secret place of the steep pathway, Let me see your form, Let me hear your voice; For your voice is sweet, And your form is lovely.” …
The Shulumite had already prayed in chapter 1 that Jesus would take her away with him to the place of fully experiencing and manifesting her union with Christ. Here in chapter 2, Jesus says twice “arise my love, my beautiful one, and come along.” He is telling her, in response to her heart’s desire, to leave behind the place where she has been, and to breakthrough, advancing to a new place where there is the experience of the “More” that she has been longing for. If you are longing to live in the perpetual revival of life “in Christ,” then Jesus will often come to you and tell you that it is time for more breakthrough and advancement. In his resurrection Jesus broke through into resurrection life, and because we are in Him, we stand in that breakthrough, but there will be experiential breakthroughs over and over again as we grow in manifesting the very resurrection life of Christ. It is important that you do not get too comfortable and where you are spiritually, because Jesus will once again call you to advance, leaving behind where you were. The interesting thing to me is that He calls her to the secret place of the steep pathway where He can see her form, and hear her voice. You see every breakthrough doesn’t just involve our encountering God, but it also involvesHiim encountering us. Deep calls unto deep. What I want you to see though, is that every time the Holy Spirit calls you to place of fresh breakthrough, the breakthrough will always be birthed from the place of prayer, where we are present to Him, and He can delight in our voice. New heights in the Lord are always precipitated by new depths in prayer. Prayer is the pathway to new lands. This is the way of God. If you sense the Holy Spirit calling you to discover, experience, and manifest More, then God is calling you to a new place in prayer from which the More will be realized.
