A lot of Christians are afraid to overemphasize grace, and so they try to balance it out with a little law, but that never works because a little law is like a little leaven and a little leaven will eventually leaven the whole lump. Grace finds its balance in love, not law. It is not grace plus works. It is a grace that works. If you watch the person who overemphasizes grace live a life of license, it is because they never understood grace, not because they overemphasized it. You can get away with far less under grace than you ever can under law. Grace reveals the heart.
Romans 2:4 TPT
Do the riches of his extraordinary kindness make you take him for granted and despise him? Haven’t you experienced how kind and understanding he has been to you? Don’t mistake his tolerance for acceptance. Do you realize that all the wealth of his extravagant kindness is meant to melt your heart and lead you into repentance?
Is grace there for cleansing when we stumble? Yes, thank God! More than that, though, grace came to set us free from the reign of sin by placing us into union with Christ, partaking of His divine nature as a free gift. Grace isn’t so that we can play with sin since we can assume God’s, unconditional love. I am so grateful that there is no condemnation for those of us who are in Christ, but the grace that is ours in Christ came to set us free from sin, not free to sin. Christ-likeness is our standard, and Christ-likeness is the same calling each of us shares, and we are all in Christ so that by grace and grace alone, we can live Christlike lives. Godliness is the result of the free gift of grace at work in our lives.
Titus 2:11-12 ESV
For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, [12] training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age,
