1 The Song of Songs, which is Solomon’s.
2 “May he kiss me with the kisses of his mouth!
For your love is better than wine.
3 “Your oils have a pleasing fragrance,
Your name is like purified oil;
Therefore the maidens love you.
4 “Draw me after you and let us run together!
The king has brought me into his chambers.”
“We will rejoice in you and be glad;
We will extol your love more than wine.
Rightly do they love you.”
Whenever, in desperation, you ask the Lord Jesus to take you away with Him to a higher place, He always does. As I mentioned before, that’s a prayer He always answers. In response to her hearts cry to run away with Him to the heights of love sickness and likeness she says this about him; “The King has BROUGHT me into His chambers.” His chambers are always moving toward the interior; always deeper in. This is the way it works in the spirit. If you want to go farther up in the things of the spirit, and reach deeper out in ministry, you’ve got to go deeper in. Every step of growth in our relationship with Jesus represents moving into a deeper chamber of his heart. Notice that he uses the word chambers, not chamber. He uses the plural word because we never stop moving from chamber to chamber until we see him face-to-face. Ezekiel 47 gives us some insight into how this works. Water always speaks of the Holy Spirit, and water was flowing from the throne. It says a man went out and measured 1000 cubits and there was water reaching the ankles. Then he went out and measured 1000 more cubits, and there was water reaching the knees. Again, he went out and measured 1000 cubits, and there was water reaching the loins. One last time he went out and measured 1000 cubits and this time there was water to swim in. Do you see the principle here? The further he went out, the deeper the water got, or in other words, the deeper he went farther out he went. If you want to go farther in the things of the spirit, You’ve got to go deeper into the chambers of God’s heart. You may even be asking the question, how do I go deeper? Notice again what this line says, “The King has BROUGHT me into His chambers.” It’s all by grace. Of course, you have to respond in surrender every step of the way, but The Holy Spirit will be your tour guide. All He has been waiting for is to hear you ask him to take you away, with desperation in your heart and voice. Beginning in verse five, the journey that He brought her through into that place is explained. He will just as surely be faithful to lead you every step of the way. The Song of Solomon will give us insight into our own journey. We will learn His ways. The Shullamite has left us bread crumbs to follow.
