One Thing 5/24/2016

Rom. 11:36-12:2, For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen. Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual (reasonable) service of worship.  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

The appeal to worship Him with a fully surrendered life, which is of course what true worship is all about, flows from the mercies of God. Even though He deserves our lives offered to Him, in light of the fact that all things, including you and me, exist by Him, through Him, and for Him, He urges us to give our all as living sacrifices because He is so merciful, and can thus be trusted. It’s His tenderness, kindness, and His kind intentions that break a heart, and will to live fully for Him in our daily. He knows that the Fall has filled our hearts with fear, insecurity, and mistrust. He has the right to demand our surrendered lives, as an act of worship, because He is great; but in light of our brokenness, He, in the humility of a lovesick heart, pleads with us to surrender because He is good. Remember, it’s the kindness of God that draws a man to repentance.
