Song 2:14 “O my dove, in the clefts of the rock,
In the secret place of the steep pathway,
Let me see your form,
Let me hear your voice;
For your voice is sweet,
And your form is lovely.
2:12 “…The time has arrived for pruning”
The Hebrew word “pruning” can also be translated “singing.” When Jesus invites us to rise up and follow Him to a new place of intimacy and vision it is always a time of great singing and joy. In His presence is fulness of joy, and when we are called to a deeper place in His presence, fulness of joy awaits us, but this journey upward and inward is also a time of pruning. If we are truly going to go farther, there are just some things you have to leave behind. It is true that the farther you go, the less you can take with you. It is the Secret Place of The Steep Pathway, and if you are going to make the climb then there things you can’t take with you, because you’ll be too weighed down. If you are going to go higher you’ll have to travel lighter.
