Rom. 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of our new being] has freed me from the law of sin and of death.
So many Christians spend so much time begging God to set them free from besetting sins. With all of the sincerity of a desperate heart they want to be finally free, from the defeat, guilt, condemnation, and despair that comes with perpetual failure. The shocking truth, that will set us free, is that we have already been set free from each and every sin, and it’s power to control our lives. As a Christian, you are in Christ, therefore His history is your history. When He died on the Cross and rose from he grave, having taken on our sin, He rose free from sin and death’s grip forever. Rom. 6:9, says that death is no longer master over Him. We died with Him, and rose with Him sharing His risen life as ours, as the heart of who we are as a New Creation. It’s imperative that you understand that you have already, in Christ, been set free from hat sin. It is no longer your master. You have a new Master, and His name is Jesus. While we are pleading with God to set us free, He is trying to get us quiet enough to ask us a question. “Do you want to give up that sin.? You are already free. I broke its power over you. It’s not a matter of you getting free, you already are. It’s just a matter of are you ready to let it go.” You see the Old Man, the former slave to sin, died on the Cross with Jesus. You were raised with Him as a new Creation, now under His authority and the influence of His indwelling power. When the old master approaches you, tempting you to sin, it may feel very familiar, but he is a liar, and you no longer have to surrender to his lure. You, as a New Creation are to stand in faith of a victory already won refusing to yield to the old master, claiming Christ as your victory. When you take that stand of faith, Your new Master, your Champion, is instantly prepared to enforce His victory with all the authority and power of Heaven.
