2 Cor. 11:3, But I am afraid that somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve in his craftiness, so your minds might be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
One of the things that we’ve been saying lately is that the deeper you go unto the things of God, the simpler it gets.. It is childlikeness that God is looking for. Jesus even said in Matthew 11 while praising his father, “You hid these things from the wise and intelligent and did reveal them to babes.” God is not looking for spiritual rocket scientist; He is looking for people who will become childlike in their simplicity of faith, and He made the gospel so simple through the finished work of the Cross, that even the baby, and I would dare say, only little ones could understand. Remember, Paul said that the word of the Cross was an offense to the religious people, and foolishness to the intellectual. That verse above from 2 Corinthians 11 talks about simplicity, and that the real warfare is that the enemy uses his craftiness to deceive Christians, by robbing them of the simplicity of being “In Christ.”
That last phrase in verse 3 should be literally translated “the simplicity of the in, or into Christ.” At the cross Jesus accomplished our union with him, and every person is born again is born in Christ. Ephesians 2:10 says that we are “created in Christ.” Being “in Christ,” is the simplicity of the gospel. Our union with Jesus, and our call and privilege to simply abide in him is at the very heart of Christianity, and the enemy is always trying to make it more complicated. Every attack from the enemy, in any area of your life, finds its victory in your union with Christ. Jesus, and his completed work at The Cross, is alway the answer, and because you are in him you abide in the victory already.
