One Thing 5/18/17

Luke 4:16 -21, And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up; and as was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath, and stood up to read. And the book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. And He opened the book and found the place where it was written,
“THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME,
BECAUSE HE ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR.
HE HAS SENT ME TO PROCLAIM RELEASE TO THE CAPTIVES,
AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND,
TO SET FREE THOSE WHO ARE OPPRESSED,
TO PROCLAIM THE FAVORABLE YEAR OF THE LORD.”
And He closed the book, gave it back to the attendant and sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on Him.
And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”

Heb.13:8 , Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Our Heavenly calling is to abide in His love, and His life; loving Him with all of our heart, and revealing Him with all of our life. By our union with Him there is a mutual indwelling, as His lovesick Bride, and His surrendered Body. This is our calling; to adore Him as true worshippers, and to reveal Him as true witnesses. Our assignment, which should never be confused with our calling, is an outflow of our calling; and it is to allow Him to continue to do through us all the things described in Luke 4. He declared that His arrival meant that those prophetic scriptures in Is. 61 were now fulfilled. He was, and still is, the fulfillment of those glorious promises. His assignment hasn’t changed. The only thing that has changed is the body through which He fulfills that assignment. He no longer lives in the borrowed body that came forth from Mary’s womb; instead He lives in and through His Church; The Body of Christ, corporately, and individually. He is the same. Nothing has changed. You can expect the same Jesus you read about in scriptures to live the same kind of life through you today. Christianity, according to, a past great servant of God, is simply “The life He lived then, lived now, by Him, in and through us.”
