One Thing 9/24/13

Is. 66:1 ¶ Thus says the LORD,
“Heaven is My throne and the earth is My footstool.
Where then is a house you could build for Me?
And where is a place that I may rest? (Where is My resting place)
Is. 66:2 “For My hand made all these things,
Thus all these things came into being,” declares the LORD.
“But to this one I will look,
To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word.

When Jesus was baptized, The Holy Spirit, in the form of a dove, descended on Him and remained on Him. All of us have experienced visitations of the Holy Spirit, and we should always be grateful for those times of visitations, but God wants us to long for more than just visitations. The Lord is looking for a place to rest; a place to abide. “…The Lord is with you when you are with Him. And if you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.” 2 Chronicles 15:2. I understand that as a Christian He is in me, and He is always with me, but I believe this verse is talking about His tangible, experienced presence, and favor. The Holy Spirit lives in every Christian, but He doesn’t REST on every Christian. We’ve all known the blessings of a God who is a loving and faithful Father, but I want to know His zealous works in my life. Don’t you want to live, as Jesus did, experiencing the reality of an Open Heaven over you. The Holy Spirit is looking for a place to rest, not just touch. Someone has said that to steward the abiding presence of Jesus on our lives we must be careful not to grieve or quench The Holy Spirit. He defined grieving The Holy Spirit as what we do when we do something wrong, and we quench Him when we don’t do what is right. When we don’t do participate in what He is telling us to do. I’m so grateful for His acceptance, and the fact the He believes in me, and always has hope for me, but I want to live before Him in such a way that He is excited over my life, and so trust’s that I will mindful of The Dove, that He will find a Resting place in me.
