One Thing 7/9/13

Rev. 6:5 When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. 6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.”

A Measured Life 2

Yesterday we were talking about the danger of living a measured life. Getting filled with the Holy Spirit, and that can happen in fresh ways many times, is wonderful. Finney said that true revival is always about a fresh filling of the Spirit. The fresh oil and fresh joyful wine has happened to many of us, but God wants that fresh filling (the first harvest) be be so sustained that we experience the full harvest of God’s blessing. The completed harvest of The Spirit involves both the Barley and the Wheat. As we said yesterday, the Barley harvest is a sustained burning, and maturing love for Christ in our hearts, and the release of His victorious, overcoming Life through our lives. These two things are manifested in radical surrender, and reckless faith.
The second part of the completed work of the Spirit of revival in us is the Wheat Harvest which was celebrated at Pentecost. The wheat and Pentecost speak of supernatural, fruitful ministry. It’s the harvesting of lives, both the lost and the saved. Not the exhausting work for Him by us, but the exhilarating work by Him through us, that changes the lives of those around us.
What we are looking for is an overflow harvest of His presence, power, and purpose in our lives, not a measured outpouring. We want a measureless harvest. For that to happen we must offer Him our lives without measure. There must be an unmeasured response to His grace and desires. A denarius is 18cents; a days wage biblically. Mary of Bethany gave 300 denari worth. It’s was her all. That’s what Jesus is looking for; an unmeasured surrender, which brings an unmeasured harvest. We will look more at this tomorrow.
