One Thing 4/8/13

Rev. 1:15 His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters.
Ezek. 1:27 I saw that from what appeared to be his waist up he looked like glowing metal, as if full of fire, and that from there down he looked like fire; and brilliant light surrounded him.
Rev. 1:17 ¶ When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.

The beauty of The Lord is a never ending wonder. These verses tell us that even His feet are so beautiful. They are on fire, like glowing bronze, in love for us. Feet speak of movement, and walk. Fire, as you know speaks of God’s fiery impassioned love. Holy Week, the week of His Passion, (ending with the Cross) was the great furnace He intentionally, and passionately walked into. By doing so, He revealed the true nature of God’s great love for us. His every movement demonstrated How much He longed to possess us for Himself, as His inheritance. He came out of that furnace of suffering with feet on fire. He didn’t draw back from the furnace, but instead because of the joy set before Him (having you and me eternally) He endured the furnace, despising the shame of being publicly crucified as a criminal. His feet forever burn as a testimony of His determined and passionate love for us. His burning feet remind us that His every movement in our relationship is driven by burning love and affection for us. No wonder 93 year old John fell at those beautiful feet. No wonder the Host of Heaven are constantly falling at those feet in worship and adoration. Now I understand why almost every time we see Mary of Bethany (the one who loved much) in the Gospels she is at the feet of Jesus, listening to His voice, beholding His face, and adoring Him with extravagant poured out worship.
