One Thing 4/10/17

There is often the question of “how to abide in Christ,” and many of us try to organize ideas that will explain what to do to abide in Christ, when the reality is, abiding is not really something that you do as much as it is something that you realize, and therefore celebrate. You see, if you are a Christian you are in Christ, and the word “abide” simply means “to remain.” Christ himself is the endless sea of all spiritual blessings. Because we are in Christ, in whom is all spiritual blessings, we have therefore already been blessed with every spiritual blessing in that heavenly (spiritual) relationship according to Ephesians 1:3. You are in union with him, therefore all that He is and all that He has is yours at this very moment. Whatever it is that you’re hoping to breakthrough to attain, or experience in the Lord it’s imperative for you to know that the breakthrough you are after is Christ Himself. Is it more power to be experienced that you’re after, then that power is in Christ. Is it greater victory over some particular sin in your life, then that victory is Christ Himself. Is it greater love, or anointing, or peace, joy, wisdom, etc. All those things and everything else, is in the person of Christ. He is the breakthrough that you are after, and you are already mingled with His life because of your union with Him. Abiding therefore means to remain confidently conscious of all that yours in Christ, and to remain dependent on Him, to whom you are joined; continually, drawing, by faith, from Him. Abiding is not trying to get to a place, but simply staying in a place you are already at; in Christ. The real warfare is the enemy trying to convince you that you aren’t there, or that you have to try to get there; when the truth is to simply live in the there; and the there is Him.
