One Thing 2/7/13

Psa. 69:20 ¶ Reproach has broken my heart and I am so sick (with love).
And I looked for sympathy, but there was none,
And for comforters, but I found none.
John 19:28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.

The scripture that was fulfilled, that Jn.18:28 refers to is Psalm 69:21. Jesus, at the Cross, revealed the depth of passion in the heart of God when He cried out ‘I Thirst.’ He expressed the infinite thirsting heart of God to love and heal fallen and broken Humanity, and to be loved back. His thirsting heart to love and be loved is at the very core of His mad plan to redeem mankind. In His cry of ‘I Thirst,’ and ‘It’s Finished,’ He declared the true motive behind the Cross, which was to reveal the true nature of God’s love for us. You might say, “I thought it was about paying for our sins.” That of course is true, but what drove Him to want to do that? He was driven, by His love for us, to remove every barrier that would separate us from Him. “God SO LOVED that He gave… Why didn’t He just destroy Adam and Eve and just start over. It was too late for that because He deeply loved them, and was already in love with you and me. It’s called foreknowledge. Even though we weren’t born, He already planned our existence, and already saw us in His minds eye, and heart, and He was already deeply in love with us. He had already formed everything about us in His heart. At the Cross Jesus completed the task of exposing the truth of God’s burning heart for you and me. In light of of His thirsting heart for us, will we allow Him to love us, even in our darkest places, and will we in response, love Him back. That is our true purpose in life. Will we BE THAT ONE that Psalm 69 speaks of, and comfort His suffering heart for love. Will you BE THAT ONE who quenches His infinite thirst. Make that your quest in life; your true aim and dream. May that ambition be what you measure your life by.
