Jeremiah 15:18-19
18 Why has my pain been perpetual
And my wound incurable, refusing to be healed?
Will You indeed be to me like a deceptive stream
With water that is unreliable?
19 Therefore, thus says the LORD,
“If you return, then I will restore you—
Before Me you will stand;
And if you extract the precious from the worthless,
You will become [a]My spokesman.
2 Corinthians 1:3-7, 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in [b]any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For just as the sufferings of Christ are [c]ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ. 6 But if we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; or if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which is effective in the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer; 7 and our hope for you is firmly grounded, knowing that as you are sharers of our sufferings, so also you are sharers of our comfort.
The Jeremiah passage says that if we seek the Lord and extract the precious from the worthless, we will become His spokesman. During those dark those places, if we instead of giving into despair and depression we extract those holy treasures that Jesus has for us not only will we grow in likeness to Him and love for Him, we will also have precious things to give away to others. In those dark times we discover, at new depths, His great merciful and compassionate heart for us. We also discover new depths of His great grace to sustain us in our hours of desperation, and His ability to heal and restore our broken hearts. That grace and mercy discovered, becomes anointed ministry that we can give away. In other words according to the 2 Corinthians passage, what we have received for our help and healing we are able to share and give to others with absolute conviction, because of our own testimony. The word “comfort” is the Greek word “Paraclete” which is the word for Holy Spirit. In our pain, the Holy spirit comes and empowers us to keep going and He heals us. From that healed place the Lord will bring hurting people into your life so hat you can give The Holy Spirit to them. This is how true anointed ministry comes. This is the School of Christ. Anointing doesn’t come from education, though I’m not against education. What you’ve memorized doesn’t change my life, but what you’ve experienced of the Holy Spirit that has transformed you does change my life. As I’ve grown older and I look back at all those time in this fallen world that I have experienced life transformational encounters with Christ, I realize that my history has really become HIS-STORY.
