One Thing 12/10/12
Mic. 7:18 Who is a God like You, who pardons iniquity
And passes over the rebellious act of the remnant of His possession?
He does not retain His anger forever,
Because He delights in unchanging love.
Mic. 7:19 He will again have compassion on us;
He will tread our iniquities under foot.
Yes, You will cast all their sins
Into the depths of the sea.
How we would despair in our quest for Him if we weren’t confident in His love, especially when we fail. I’m never really concerned when I find someone whose heart is set on Pilgrimage. I know their passion for undistracted devotion is driving them forward in their desire to apprehend the One who has stolen away their heart. My only real concern for these lovesick ones is the guilt the enemy uses to paralyze them when (not if) they fail. In that place of vulnerability, the accuser of the brethren causes them to question the authenticity and sincerity of their hearts and love. The accusation of hypocrisy is hurled at them like a river coming from the mouth of Diabolos. Introspection and guilt has a directed purpose, and that is to paralyze your heart and walk, making you believe and feel as if The Lover of Your Soul has abandoned that place of shared hearts you had been experiencing with Him. Somehow you feel you have soiled that place, and it is lost to you.
Yet, the Micah passage says He DELIGHTS in UNCHANGING LOVE. Unchanging means nothing you do or don’t do can change the intensity of His affections for you. He DELIGHTS in loving you, even when you’ve failed. It’s says in verse 19 that He WILL (not might) AGAIN (that means repeatedly) have compassion on us. Truly, there is no God like our God. That’s what the name Micah means. God raised him up to remind us of the true nature of God’s love and compassion, especially when we fail. When you blow it, break through all the accusations and dare to believe the truth that the One who was loving you, is loving you still, longing for you to get up, dust yourself off, and renew the quest that so ravishes His lovesick heart.
