One Thing 1/19/13

Col. 1:10 so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;
Col. 1:13 For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son,

It’s not just a matter of what we do that makes us pleasing to God, but according to verse 10 it’s also the “manner” in which we do things that determines whether or not we are pleasing to God. Hebrews 11:6 says, “without faith, it is impossible to please God,” and Romans 14:23 says, “that which is not of faith is sin.” Therefore, we can conclude that the manner in which we must walk, to be pleading to God, is to walk in faith. To live every moment, facing every situation in life, with the attitude of utter dependence, and confidence in Him, thus invoking His ability. God wants us to live in a constant, conscious union with Him. He is, and what He says, is the Truth (the great reality) about everything in life.
In verse 13 He tells us about something He has already done for us. It says that He has already rescued us from the domain (domination) of darkness, and has already transferred us to the rule, and reign of Jesus. If that is true, then why do certain attitudes, and behaviors still dominate our lives. I’m not talking about the occasional sins that we all commit, but I’m talking about those strongholds of sin that continue to dominate our lives, even after many years. He has already rescued us. He has done His work, therefore there is one thing missing, and that is our work, and our work is faith (to simply believe). John 6:29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.” It really is that simple. We must stand in faith, no matter how many times we fail, that God has already rescued us from whatever the sin, until we see the trespasser flee from the holy ground, which is your life. remember, if he has built a stronghold, it may take just a little while for him to fully relinquish that which doesn’t belong to him. He can be stubborn at first, but if you stand, by faith, resisting him, he WILL flee. From that point, continue to, by faith, to stand in your place of victory, every time he tries to sneak back in.
