One Thing 11/6/17

Jn. 4:13 , Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”

Jn. 7:37,  Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’ ” 39 But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

Ps. 36:8, They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house;
And You give them to drink of the river of Your delights.
9, For with You is the fountain of life;
In Your light we see light.

Psa. 87:7, Then those who sing as well as those who play the flutes shall say,
“All my springs (fountains) are in you.”

Remember, that eternal life is not about duration, though it does go on forever. Instead, eternal life is a quality of life that’s heavenly and supernatural in nature. The moment you become a Christian you receive eternal life, and the verses I listed above speaks of that kind of life that is heavenly in nature. Pay particular attention to the story in John 4 about the woman at the well. She had been desperately thirsting for her heart and life needs to be met, and had to this point continually come up empty and thirsty still. Jesus offered her a permanent and perpetual well of living water, that would spring up from within her into a supernatural heavenly life, that would quench her thirst forever. If this is an accurate description of what happens to every person from the moment they receive Jesus, then why do we spend so much time crying out to God for “more,” when instead, we should start drinking from the river of his delights that are already flowing up from within me. I understand the motive of crying out for more, being the desire that you want to experience all that he has; but it is important that our mindset isn’t crying out to get something that we don’t have, because these verses tell us that from the moment of your new birth you carry the fullness of Christ springing up into life and life more abundant already. Let’s start trusting and drinking from the rivers that are flowing form His life within, so that we don’t constantly live in spiritual, and emotional thirst. Had sad for those of us who have a miraculous well in us that springs up into LIFE, walking around in a dry, and barren land, always thirsting for more.
