One Thing 11/29/11

Matthew 11:28-30
New American Standard Bible (NASB)
   28 “Come to Me, all [a]who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. 30 For My yoke is [b]easy and My burden is light.”

In Matthew 11:28-30, we are told that Jesus offers rest to the burdened, the weary, and the heavy ladened. Life in this fallen world, living with and among fallen people can be so overwhelming sometimes. As Christians we don’t have to live our lives full of distress, anxiety and despair. Jesus offers rest for our souls. Don’t believe the Devils lies that you are the exception. That your situation is just too daunting. Jesus says, “All who are weary, and heavy ladened (overwhelmed). That word “all” means you too. Jesus said “I will (not might) give you rest.” The word “rest” is used two times in these verses. It means to Cease, to Refresh, Recreation. Wouldn’t you love to have all he churning inside to stop. Wouldn’t you love to wake up everyday feeling refreshed everyday. Would love to experience recreation (peace, play, and joy) in your soul everyday as you navigate this life. This is what Jesus offers. He doesn’t want us to live burdened down and soul weary. He isn’t standing along side and offering us help. He wants to take over. He wants to bear the burden. He wants us to cease, and allow Him to do what He does, SAVE us. I don’t mean the not go to Hell but go to Heaven kind of save us, but as Christians, the Save us from ourselves everyday in this fallen world kind of Save us.

Rom.5:10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

We don’t just need to be saved by His death from the wrath of God, so that we want go to Hell one day. We need to be saved by His life from our burdened an overwhelmed selves, so we don’t live in hell everyday while still on this earth. We will talk more about this tomorrow, and see if Jesus gives us any insight in these verses HOW to experience that Soul Recreation he offers to us ALL. Have a Great day celebrating Him. The Great Kings, great Gift to us All.

We rest on Thee, our Shield and our Defender!
We go not forth alone against the foe;
Strong in Thy strength, safe in Thy keeping tender,
We rest on Thee, and in Thy Name we go.
Strong in Thy strength, safe in Thy keeping tender,
We rest on Thee, and in Thy Name we go.

Yes, in Thy Name, O Captain of salvation!
In Thy dear Name, all other names above;
Jesus our Righteousness, our sure Foundation,
Our Prince of glory and our King of love.
Jesus our Righteousness, our sure Foundation,
Our Prince of glory and our King of love.

We go in faith, our own great weakness feeling,
And needing more each day Thy grace to know:
Yet from our hearts a song of triumph pealing,
“We rest on Thee, and in Thy Name we go.”
Yet from our hearts a song of triumph pealing,
“We rest on Thee, and in Thy Name we go.”

We rest on Thee, our Shield and our Defender!
Thine is the battle, Thine shall be the praise;
When passing through the gates of pearly splendor,
Victors, we rest with Thee, through endless days.
When passing through the gates of pearly splendor,
Victors, we rest with Thee, through endless days.
